Here’s today’s question: Do you have multiple copies of any of your books? If so, why? If not, why not?
My husband and I both love books. When we got married, we ended up with several multiples, usually in the SF category. Our most frequent furniture purchase is bookshelves. Really, we should just get a subscription to IKEA, and have them deliver a new shelf to our door every six months.
That said, my husband knows what books he’s read so if I buy him a book as a gift, it has to be the latest and greatest or very obscure. I just bought him a book called mindscan by Robert J. Sawyer and guess what….
Hey, subscription bookshelves! Now THAT sounds useful! 😀
I forgot about multiples through marriage — I think we had a few of those, too, but gave away the extras in most cases.
(My first week to participate as well.)
I also have a few multiples due to marriage. I also collected several copies of my favorite book series ever. Multiples, in my point of view, are a part of life!
I have multiple copies of Anne of Green Gables. Our daughter said she would like us to buy her a set while in PEI, so we did. When I presented her with them she said she already had a set! Unbeknownst to me my husband bought a copy of Anne for himself. I own a large book with all of the series. While in PEI, sweet Raidergirl3 gave me 2 books in the series.
And, of course, we have multiple copies of some of the Harry Potter books.
Okay, that is funny: subscription bookshelves. Sign me up!
Hey, thanks for the comments folks! Looks like I have a few new blogs to explore and some old faves to catch up on.
Ooh, I like the subscription bookcase idea, too! Because my philosophy in life is that you can’t have too many books, just too little space.

I could use a subscription for bookshelves too! Haha
I’m the one who everyone needs to check with before giving me a book. Sometimes I think I own all the books in the world. Not even close, of course, but I’m often telling family and friends I already have a copy of this or that.
Unfortunately, my husband did not bring any books with him when we married 🙁 But I married him anyway.
rather unfortunately, my partner doesn’t even like to read, and almost a decade into this relationship, i’m wondering how i ended up here. 🙂
